Help & support
A little guidance for translating on your Mac. The public beta installer and production purchases are not available yet; licensing is being tested in a Stripe sandbox.
Translate selected text
Select text in the original app, then click the menu-bar translation icon. To use Control + Option + T or Control + Option + Space, first enable that shortcut in Settings. In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, allow Aotia. If macOS asks, quit and reopen the app after changing permission.
When selection capture does not work
Selection support varies by app. Keep the source app and its selection active when using the shortcut. Check Accessibility permission and try another text field. Some apps require the automatic copy fallback, which updates your clipboard; the app shows which capture method was used. If needed, paste text into the translation window yourself.
Set up an offline engine
Choose Apple Translation or Hy-MT2 in Settings. Apple Translation may ask to download language resources for the selected languages. For Hy-MT2, install a supported model using the model controls and check that the local runtime starts successfully. The compact model is about 440 MiB; Q4 is about 1.13 GB. Download size is not running memory. Initial downloads need a connection; translations run on your Mac after setup. Importing a GGUF file alone does not guarantee compatibility.
30-day trial
The beta includes a 30-day free trial without registration or login. After it expires, activate a license to continue translating. Trial and license information is stored in macOS Keychain. There is no subscription or automatic renewal. Public download and purchase availability will be announced on the website.
Activate a license manually
When you receive an activation code, open Settings → License, paste the complete code and activate while connected to the internet. The signed license is tied to this Mac and can then be verified locally for offline use. Sandbox activation codes are for testing and do not grant a production license. Keep your purchase email for support.
Recover a license or move to another Mac
In Settings → License and trial, choose Restore purchase / Move to another Mac. Enter your purchase email, verify the 6-digit code, then select a purchase. Transferring from another Mac requires explicit confirmation and a 24-hour interval between transfers. The current recovery service is sandbox-only. An ordinary reinstall on the same Mac can retain the license already saved in Keychain. Never send that code to another person. A transfer updates the server’s device binding, but cannot remotely disable a signed license already stored on an offline Mac. Stop using the old copy when transferring. Contact support if you cannot access your purchase email.
Updates and troubleshooting
Use the app’s update command when available, or check the website for release information. Update checks and downloads need internet access. For support, include your app version, macOS version, selected engine, and the error message or steps that reproduce the problem. Do not include activation codes, verification codes, or private translation content.
